Public and Private Employers
Why retirement income planning for public sector employees? They receive a pension income in retirement for as long as they live!
Public employers have done the best job overall of preparing their employees for retirement through a combination of defined benefit pensions and defined contribution plans such as 457(b), 403(b) or a TSP. However, most public employee pension benefits are not intended to be an employee’s sole source of retirement income. In addition, risks such as inflation and healthcare can substantially impact the retirement quality of life for even the most prepared employee over the course of a 30-year retirement.
Employees need to understand the risks they will face before they retire in order to make informed decisions about when to retire and how to take distributions from or best utilize their pension, 457, 403(b), and other personal retirement savings.
The courses below were designed with the help of leading public plan retirement systems to help other systems, unions and even private-sector employers cost-effectively provide turnkey live workshop, elearning, ebook and/or print self-study retirement education that allow employees to accept personal responsibility for planning and managing their retirement income and retirement risks.
Likewise, public plan retirement counselors, educators, call center reps and even trustees need professional retirement income and planning training to help them effectively deliver retirement education and guidance services to their plan's members. Our professional retirement income training, along with a hands-on, live train the trainer program will help all stakeholders in your system quickly get on the same page and be up and running in no time!

The InFRE® RetirAwareness QuizTM (RAQ) was developed in 2007 by InFRE retirement professionals and financial faculty at Texas TEch University (TTU) on behalf of the federal government as a standardized assessment for identifying employee retirement literacy education needs. The RAQ is designed for employees or clients to assess their level of personal retirement literacy for making informed retirement planning decisions over the early, mid- and late phases of their careers. You can use the FREE RAQ in one-on-one counseling sessions to gain insight into what your employees understand and have yet to learn. Forward the RAQ link to individual employees and ask them to print the results. They will be surprised at their results, and you will be able to help them choose the path that's best for them. If you have a large employee group in need of retirement plan review, consider purchasing RAQ paks, perfect for employers with 50 or more employees. The pak includes online deliver of RAQ's along with an automated summary of rolled up scores.
